2025-26

About Us

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Ashbourne Community School is an active committee of parents, teachers and Board of Management representatives. The PTA is the structure through which parents and guardians work together with the principal, staff and board of management to build an effective partnership of home and school and to give their children the best possible education.

The officers of the PTA for 2025/2026 are:

Chairperson: Niall McMahon

Secretary: Claire Mansfield

Treasurer: Lucy Deering

We meet every two months and our AGM will happen in January 2026.

The PTA: (1) Works with the Principal and teachers in the development and review of school policies, e.g. code of behaviour and many others. (2) Suggests and organises extracurricular activities - the PTA helped organise tea and coffee at the graduation ceremonies, for example - and looks at ways to provide practical assistance to the school. All with the agreement of the Board of Management. (3) Supports the parents in the school by providing information for parents as required by way of discussions, talks, training courses, etc. (4) Acts as the point of contact between the school community and the National Parents Council.

The PTA is affiliated with the National Parents Council. National Parents Council (NPC) is the only recognised representative organisation for parents of children in early, primary and post-primary education. Every third year, we organise the election of two parent representatives on the Board of Management. If you have any ideas, comments, suggestions or queries or you would like to get involved in some way, please contact us via the school office.
