Business is a Business Studies option within the established Leaving Certificate programme. It is concerned with the understanding of the environment in which business operates in Ireland and in worldwide. It equips the students with a positive view of enterprise and its applications in the business environment, in both the public and private sectors.
Most careers require some knowledge of the business world. This making LC Business a very relevant subject for those who go onto further education or employment, or set up their own business. Keeping up-to-date with what is happening in the business world as well the economic climate worldwide, will help students in this subject.

5th Year Business Trip to The Chocolate Warehouse
On 27th April 2016, Mr. Pat O’Shea and his dedicated group of 5th Year Business students headed off on a curricular trip to The Chocolate Warehouse in Walkinstown. This trip was organised to give these Business students a real sense of what is involved in setting up, running and marketing a successful indigenous firm in Ireland today. The day started off with a presentation on the origins of chocolate and a brief outline of the firm’s recruitment and marketing strategies. There was also an insight into issues such as cash flow, stocktaking and profit margins. Following the presentation students were brought on a tour of the plant and afterwards, got an opportunity to get their hands dirty producing and decorating their own chocolates! A very educational and enjoyable day was had by all. Well done to all the students who participated so well in all the activities on the day.
