Student Responsibility

The 1st Senior Prefects were elected this year in Ashbourne Community School. There are 15 prefects and they have been involved in various activities throughout the year. They have taken on duties with Junior students and have also set up a student achievement notice board, where achievements by all students in the school can be highlighted and acknowledged.

A small group of the Senior Prefects were present and assisted a representative from the Ministry of Education of Singapore when he visited the school recently. They will also represent the school in a few weeks time when a group of delegates from Albania will visit the school.

All the prefects have taken part and completed a student leadership programme where they worked on various skills inculding public speaking, communication and listening skills, as well as motivational and leadership skills.

This initiative will grow and develop in the coming years, and already some Junior students have expressed an interest in becoming involved when they reach Senior Cycle in the school.
