On Friday the 12th Of December, The Green Schools Committee travelled to the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin. We took this day as a team building day.

We started our day at 10am, taking a walk around the garden and chasing squirrels. At 10:30 we met with our tour guide Claire. She brought us on a guided tour around all of the gardens. Claire showed us lots of the interesting plant life that they have in the gardens. We were brought into the heated green houses to see the banana plants and sugar cane growing.
We got plenty of photos of the tour around the garden, some of which can be seen below. Click on the photos to enlarge them.
At 11:30 we were given control of the conference room for our meeting. We started with a game just to ensure everyone was wide awake and ready to come up with new and exciting ideas. After the fun, we settled down to work on our plan for after the Christmas break. We decided on our action day for this year, 20th January, and then what our plans for this day are. Expect this day and week to be a very memorable week for the school, as some of the ideas suggested will really get people talking.
Overall, this was an excellent day with lots of ideas for the remainder of the year.
Christmas is just around the corner and Green Schools are asking that everyone be as environmentally aware as possible this year.
Try Pre-Cycling, buying the presents with as little packaging as possible this way you're not stuck with all that wrapping paper and packaging come the 26th. Also don't forget to bring all your bottles and cans to the recycle bins at SuperValu after Christmas.

Green Schools would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and an environmentally friendly 2009.
